Furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment and services for installing composite Stone Panels consisting of natural stone veneer bonded by high strength epoxy impregnated fiberglass mesh to aluminum honeycomb reinforcing. B. Furnish and install all supplementary anchors and accessories as shown on drawings for a secure and complete installation. 1.02 RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE A. Joint Sealant: Section 07920 F: Gypsum Sheathing: Section 09250 1.03 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Submit specifications, installation instructions and recommendations from manufacturer. B. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings showing alignments, joint locations and sizes, supports, attachment devices, accessories, complete pattern layout plan, corner details, and installation details. C. Samples: Submit a minimum of one sample not less than 6" x 6" size for each stone type required. D. Test Data: Submit summary of tests conducted verifying performance capabilities. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: The manufacturer shall have a minimum of 10 years demonstrated capability to produce composite natural stone veneer reinforced panels of the quality and scope required, shall have completed independent laboratory tests verifying performance capabilities, and shall be able to furnish a list of previous jobs of a similar size plus references. 1.05 WARRANTY A. The manufacturer shall provide a 10 year warranty that the panels will be free from defects in lamination or separation of the panel components. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. (polished, honed, sandblasted, flamed) C. All Stone Panels used in the work shall have the following properties. 1. Facing: 3/16" (4.8mm) plus or minus 1/16" (1.6mm) natural stone polished, honed, sandblasted or flame finished. 2. Reinforcing: 3/4" (19mm) or 3/8" (10mm) - (interior) aluminum honeycomb bonded by high strength epoxy impregnated reinforced glass cloth. 3. Thickness: 15/16" (24mm) or 9/16" (14mm) - (interior) plus or minus 1/16" (1.6mm) 4. Average Weight: 3.3 lbs per sq. ft. (l6 kg per sq. m.) 5. Dimensional Tolerance: Plus or minus 1/16" (1.6mm) in all directions. Plus or minus 1/16" (1.6mm) diagonally. 2.02 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS The stone panels shall meet the following performance properties confirmed by independent laboratory testing. A. Acid-Freeze-Thaw by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Assoc. Test Method: Flexural strength loss not to exceed 20% following 100 cycles + 170(F to -10(F while immersed in 4-pH sulfuric acid solution. B. Large Missile Impact in accordance with Dade County Protocol PA 201-94: Resist large missile impact fired at 50 ft. per second. C. Cyclic Wind Pressure Loading in accordance with Dade County Protocol PA 203-94: Resist 1342 repetitions of positive-negative 90 psf design wind pressure. D. ASTM E-84 Flame Spread: 5 maximum Smoke Development: 5 maximum Fuel Contributed: 0 E. Toxicity Evaluation according to the University of Pittsburgh Test Method: No more toxic than Douglas Fir wood. F. ASTM D-2015 Potential Heat of Combustion: 1150 BTU/lb. maximum. G. UBC 17-6 Multi-Story Fire Evaluation: Meet acceptance criteria. H. Modified ASTM E-108 Fire Evaluation: Resist 30 minute fire exposure. I. Flatwise Tension Bond Capacity: 385 psi following accelerated aging by rapid temperature cycling from -40(F to +160(F. J. Flatwise Tension Bond Tests following ASTM C-67, Section 8 Freeze-Thaw: 290 psi flatwise tension bond following 100 cycles freeze-thaw consisting of 20 hours freezing at 0 degrees F and 4 hours thawing in water at 75 degrees F. K. ASTM E-72 Transverse Load Test: Average 215 lbs. per sq. ft. uniform load on 35.5 inch simple span causing 0.49 inch deflection average. L. Racking Shear Load Tests: No disengagement nor major damage following application of 4,000 lb. load and 0.05" to 1.5" deflection on 8 ft. x 8 ft. specimen. M. ASTM E 283-73 Air Infiltration Test: Meet Criteria ASTM E 331-86 Water Penetration Test: Meet Criteria AAMA 501.1-83 Dynamic Water Penetration Test: Meet Criteria 2.03 ACCESSORIES A. Connection and anchorage hardware, including interlocking channels, anchor plates, Z-sections, angle clips, structural silicone and threaded inserts shall be furnished and installed under this contract. Such hardware shall be of sufficient size, thickness and strength to properly support the panels and applied loads in a secure manner. All panel fastening shall be completely concealed. All panel mounting details shall be approved by Stone Panels, Inc. Technical Department prior to installation. B. Joint sealant materials specified in Section 07920 shall be tested for compatibility with the natural stone facings specified. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 WORKMANSHIP A. Only experienced Stone Panel composite manufacturer trained competent installers shall be employed. 3.02 PREPARATION A. Assure that stud wall or subwall assembly is plumb, dimensioned according to Contract Drawings and Shop Drawings, and installed in accordance with all pertinent codes and regulations. 3.03 INSTALLATION A. Install all stone panels in accordance with instructions and recommendations as set forth by the manufacturer, except to the extent more stringent requirements are indicated. B. Comply with all pertinent codes and regulations. C. All stone panels shall be installed in proper alignment in accordance with the Contract Drawings and approved Shop Drawings. 3.04 CLEANING A. Clean all dirt, adhesives and sealant from panels using detergents or solvents as appropriate and recommended by the manufacturer. B. Touch-up marred and chipped surfaces to match adjacent undamaged surfaces, as approved by the Architect.
